| The fund is currently up to £30,000. I have now been invited to meetings with members of the Civic Trust to discuss Fred’s statue. I shall keep you posted on this. | |||
 The idea is to first erect the glass showcase which will extend the one currently containing the Hick-Hargreaves stationary steam engine located in Bolton. Later, a statue of Fred surrounded by various bits of machinery will be displayed for you lovely people to see. I think it is an excellent idea, and I am looking forward to the day we can all see it. Of course, we still need lots of donations for this fund, so please do continue to support us. Thank you. |

My ‘Fred talks’ are going well! Keep your eye on the website for some exciting forthcoming events for this and next year. I’m honoured to have been asked to do a talk in October at the AGM of ‘The Bolton & Bury Canal Society’ of which Fred was President. The society is always looking for volunteers, and so if you live in the area why not go along and get involved? |

| Has anyone got any brill ideas to raise more money for Fred’s Memorial Fund? Maybe you have got some item of value to auction off on e-bay, or you could organise a ‘Fred Night’? Subject to my availability, I would always consider attending one of your fund raising events. Donations can be sent to me (cheques or postal orders only please, made payable to ‘the Fred Dibnah Memorial Fund’ or alternatively, you can simply visit any branch of Lloyds TSB and mention the fund at the Bolton Branch ( Hotel Street , sort code 30-91-01).
