The team over at the Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre have put a call out for anyone with construction equipment to give them a hand:

We are in need of a Mini-Digger that we can borrow to use on the yard. Can anyone ‘lend’ us one for a couple of jobs?

The life of steeplejack Fred Dibnah is to be turned into a blockbuster movie.

Plans for the film are still being drawn up, but a website has been launched in a bid to attract the necessary funding from the film industry.

On the 14th January 2010 the Bolton council planning permission meeting approved the plans for the conversion of Fred former home to a Heritage Centre.

Initially there was concerns from local residences regarding the amount of traffic and parking disruption that the Heritage centre would bring to the area, but the current owners have made a deal with Metro Taxis to provide free transfers to and from Bridge Centre car park in Bedford street. (Ed: does anyone have details/tel/web/email for Metro Taxis, they deserve some extra business for helping out)

Word just in regarding the latest Bolton Council Planning Committee Meeting to address the outstanding concerns regarding the proposed Heritage Centre at Fred’s former house:

AN ACCRINGTON landmark came crashing to earth, marking the end of a mill’s 229-year history.

The demolition of Woodnook Mill chimney created a huge dust cloud as it came swiftly down, watched by a crowd of spectators who had gathered in the rain to watch the end of an era.
