Can you tell me what became of all the items that were on Freds back garden , eg, his land rover and the steam engine ?

      Hi Alan,
I’m unsure of the exact details but I do remember Leon saying that the Land rover was “long gone” (they are currently looking to get a new one and repaint it).
As for the steam engines, they where removed to safe keeping after a spate of theft from Fred’s house. The day was documented and released as part of ‘Memories of a Steeplejack’, I managed to get a copy of the DVD a couple of days ago but I’ve not had a chance to watch it. I’ll post back with more into when I do.

By the term “Long Gone” do you mean been scrapped or just in a poor state? It would be a shame for this old girl to go, and I would be happy to talk to you about restoring it.

        Regards

I do not know what Leon exactly meant by “Long gone”, perhaps he can explain here?

The last I heard of the lany was that it was taken away with Betsy after the series of break-ins at Fred old house. One of the films in the “Memories of a Steeplejack” magazine shows it being towed away, but we are not told exactly where.

            Hi There,

Thanks for the reply. If you ever find out where it is, I will be happy to take it on as a project to restore it (sadly will take time but I am happy to do it). It will remain your vehicle though as I will not (unless I can) be buying it.

            Regards

Since we’re running out of space here, I’ve just posted in the forum about your question.

    Hello

As the original ‘Fred Dibnah – Steeplejack’ documentary (& subsequent early docs. when he was the subject rather than the presenter) are sadly unavailable on DVD.I wondered if you would be able to copy these early docs. onto a disc or two for me?;I will pay anything reasonable to acquire these gems!

    thanks

    John

    • Joe says:

Hi John, unfortunately you are getting into legally rocky ground but if you post your email address perhaps someone maybe able to assist, otherwise do as I did and keep an eye on eBay and you maybe able to pick up a VHS copy.

  4. Adam Morris says:

Hi, I was looking through your website and could’nt see the next opening date. Me and my father have great interest in Fred Dibnah and would love to come on the tour, so if you could let me know an estimated time. Thanks Adam

    • Joe says:

Hi Adam, while there was word of further open evenings due in January, I think they were dependant on the successful outcome of the council planning permission which took place yesterday. Helpfully there will be news shortly.

  5. Melanie says:

  8. Mrs Winfield says:

how can i book my father in law on to the house tour, who do i need to contact

    Mrs Winfield

  9. Joe says:

Hi Melanie, Emily Taylor & Mrs Winfield, thanks for your message(s).

I’m afraid Leon, the current owner of Fred’s former home, has not given any further indication when then next (first official?) house tour will take place. You could send him and email freddibnahtours@live.com expressing your interest and see if he can give any more details.

Please let us know how you get on.

(ps. meanwhile you can help the Heritage Centre by visiting their eBay site)
