Fred was alive when the buildings at the World Trade Centre collapsed, and in such a manner as to have done Fred proud had he been the perpetrator.

My question is:- Did Fred have any comment on 9/11? Did he see especially WT7 on the news and what was his reaction?

Many thanks in advance for a reply

cheers

Hello Bob,

On the day the World Trade Centre got destroyed, Fred was out in the back garden working near the Danks boiler, which he was stoking in order to get 'steam up'. I had just heard the story on the news as it happened, and rushed out to tell him. He was very shocked and dumbfounded, asking me to slowly repeat what I had said. We both immediately rushed indoors to watch the news on telly in the front parlour.

As we watched the news footage, it showed close-up shots of people jumping out of the window. It was horrifying, and Fred expressed his pity and grief for the poor people trapped inside, faced with the dilemma of having to jump from those heights.

I asked him if he thought it was a controlled demolition like some of the conspiracy theories suggest ( think David Icke, etc), and, bearing in mind Fred never actually 'blew anything up' in his life – preferring instead to use traditional methods of felling not involving dynamite, such those as used and developed in Victorian Britain by steeplejacks famous in their own time, such as Joseph Smith "The Gentleman Lancashire" Steeplejack", Fred was adamant that it was purely a terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre.

We had many lengthy discussion about this, and watched together some of the footage in slow-motion, as he explained in his own indomitable way why he considered the suggestion by some that it was 'staged' by the U.S. was ludicrous. He also considered it a great insult to the American people who had died and their families, to suggested that it was an 'inside job'….

I hope this explains some of Fred's thoughts to you Bob -and thank you so much for taking the time to leave the post on this excellent website.
