Hi everyone Lenbo here i'm new .

Well i want to post a siting of Freds old Landrover , Thursday 24th September 2010 parked outside a house adjacent the old Co- oP shop

also these days converted into an ordinary dwelling.  Where i'm talking about was Waterside a very small village nestled between Eccleshill and Hoddlesden  midway between Darwen and Blackburn .

It had the old livery Fred Dibnah Steeplejack Bolton and the phone number . i pass this spot maybe  two three times a week on my way up to a local fishing lodge  Carus'a Mill Lodge , used by  Darwen Loyal Anglers  . Never ever seen Fred's old Landrover up close before in my life , and to say was shocked would be an understatement .  Especially around my neck of the woods  being Blegburn .. old Lanky ferr Blackburn .

As i understood it , the Landrover was put in storage ?  just were cannot seem to find out . However in searching around on the web , i came across a series of pictures with a chap called Haslam , sorry can't recall his first name , but in most of maybe six pictures he was seen at the front or side of Fred's old Landy ????  Oh it did say  ——– Haslam of Wigan ? but unfortunately it didn't State this chap Haslam had bought Fred's Landrover ?

But from the pictures , he was beaming , i'd say  he appeared to be the proud new owner ?

Has any of you Fred's world people on here , any ideas  as to the true nature of what actually was the destiny of the Landy after Fred's death .

I'd  love to know , as probably a few other Fred Dibnah lovers  , all over  and general interest , concerning something that was so integral to Fred's life,   His old Landrover .

Hoping some kind soul out there just may have a few answers  ..    Thanks for reading , Yours a long time Fred Admirer ,  Lenbo .

Hi Rob ,

thanks for your input ,  the thing was, i've lived about these parts for some years now , and never seen any sign of Fred's old land rover there before .

I understand both his lads are living in the Isle of Man where there mother moved to after the divorce . I had no knowledge of the whereabouts of  any of his three daughters ? From his first marriage   till you mentioned one does live in the Darwen area . Cheers for that info .

Still you could have a point  Rob , maybe whoever lives now at that address were i seen the Landy , it could be a relative or something ? and once in a Blue Moon  one of the family comes across visiting , in the Land Rover , and just by chance   i spotted it their the other day .

I used to live at Waterside many moons ago , but still have a few contacts still living there in the village , i' will try and catch up with one or two of them  and check out if they may know something ? if I find anything out i'll certainly pop it up here at the Forum .

Thanks again   Rob ,   Lenbo .

Hi guys

Couple of things just to add.

In the video "A moving story" Fred's Lany was taken out of the yard "into storage" as you say Lenbo.

Then a couple of months past Roger Dibnah confirmed that he now has possession of it.

It's also worth noting that Fred went through a couple of Landrovers so that may explain multiple sighting..

Hope this helps.

Evening Joe ,

Thanks for that information , something i never knew that Fred had a couple of landrovers ..

So as you say Joe , might explain me spotting one the other day in the Darwen area ?

and you say Roger the younger lad i believe now has the landrover or at least one of them .

I did see something about his landrover getting a full over haul fresh engine the lot chassis sorted  too ..

Maybe this was the landrover i came across on the web , were a chap called Haslam and it mentioned Wigan .

Was he the person who did the renovation ?  or had he bought one of the landrovers , as say Joe , that was something

I hadn't known , that Fred had , had a couple of landrovers  at least , would suspect they were both liveried the same ..

Oh well , thanks again for that Joe ..     Lenbo .

Hi,

There's a new article of Fred's Series 3 in this months copy of Land Rover World magazine if anyones interested.  It covers the original refurb by RPI as mentioned above and continues with the latest rebuild as it is now.

My scanner isn't talking to my 'puter at the moment so I can't scan it for you, however, here's the website http://www.landroverworld.co.uk/ which shows Fred's LR on the front cover.

It's this months edition so it should be in the shops still, though I find it's generally only sold in WH Smiths!

Hi.

I missed the issue on the shelves at WH Smith, and the website for back copies doesn't have images of the front cover for November or December. What issue was it? December or November?

Thanks.

The Landrover which was spotted at Waterside does indeed belong to Fred's daughter who lives in the house where the Landrover was spotted. I can see it each day from my bedroom window. Hope this info helps solve the mystery!
