Two things caught my attention over the last couple of days with the announcements that the Heritage Centre is having an open day and their launch of the "Sponsor a Brick"/"Spot the ball" Campaign.
The first is that the open day is on June 5th 2010 but when the Heritage Centre received planning permission the newspapers all had quotes saying that the Heritage Centre was due to open on what would have been Fred's Birthday in April. That would make it seem that the opening will be after June, why have an open day when the Heritage Centre will already be open? Perhaps this is planned as a special event?
The second interesting snipit is this line from the Sponsor a Brick page:
We need your help to raise funds to restore Fred Dibnah’s famous Home and Workyard to its former glory, and to help the charitable trust purchase it from the owners at a fair price
(emphasis my own)
Does anyone know the "charitable trust" concerned? The Nation Trust or English Heritage perhaps?
