I've just been sent (thanks Andy) some more info on the 5th June open day taken from the "Listed Heritage Magazine".
Saturday 5th June
Fred Dibnah Open EveningAs you may or may not know we held two evening do’s last year and they were both roaring success’s, we have had numerous requests for another one, so we thought we would have one to celebrate getting the planning consent through and to allow a number of people to see where we are up to with the work on site. The date for this afternoon “do” is 5th June 2010, We are limited by the council on our numbers so we have to limit the evening to 40 possibly 50 guests. There will be a fantastic complimentary spread of food ( eat all you can ) with refreshments, a pint of the famous flat cap ale, plenty of Guinness and much, much more.
So If you would like the opportunity to visit this wonderful piece of history before it is open to the public, ( we don’t know yet when we will be open as we do still have some major work to do here ) and to have a private viewing whilst meeting other keen Fred fans and rubbing shoulders with Fred’s old pals, then come on down and see where Fred used to work, see where he used to relax, see his workshop and his machinery, his work shed where he used to spend many hours fettling, see his tools, his blacksmithing equipment, his ladders, get the feel of the place, see his boiler house, get a close up of his mineshaft, yes it’s still here, and no it hasn’t been filled in, see the top of Swan mill chimney in the garden.
See his jumpers which you will recognise from the tv series, his overalls, his spanners, his drawings, stand where he shot the arrow in that famous TV scene, where he nearly shot Alf, it’s all here folks, and you can see it before the general public do.
All proceeds go towards getting this place fettled. We will have a little auction where you can pick up some artefacts and maybe a couple of tools that we have a surplus of.
Meet up with Fred’s close pals Alf (elf) Molyneux, and Neil Carney, the author Alan Mcewen, and one or two surprise guests, hear the story of how I came to buy this amazing place.
Places are strictly limited so please email us at fredddibnahtours@live.com for full details of parking and accommodation before bidding.
You are also able to sponsor a brick, for more information please visit: http://www.freddibnahheritagec…..ntre.co.uk
