Tours of the Heritage Centre take place on Wednesday's, Thursday's and Saturdays at 2pm. To mark Fred's anniversary, it has been decided to open up on Saturday, 6th November at 5pm for an evening event. Places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment! An impressive lighting display will form the backdrop to the event which will include the usual guided tour, along with a hotpot supper and refreshments. Chestnuts roasted on Fred's forge will be available and visitors can then enjoy a very entertaining speech from Master Boiler Maker, Alan Mcewen, a very close friend of Fred's for 25 years. Fred's horizontal static steam engine, which has just been renovated by voluntary engineers at the Heritage Centre will be on display in it's purpose built engine house. The team responsible for the project will also be on hand to tell their story.
All in all, it will be a very entertaining evening and we look forward to welcoming Fred fans from across the country and beyond!
Bookings are now being taken on 07976 812 596
Hi Dave, thanks for the info, I'll post about it on the main site shortly.
Is the entrance fee to the evening event going to be the usual £12?

Hi Joe, Unfortunately not I'm afraid. The entrance fee will be £50, but this will include food and drink. It will be a very special event to mark the anniversary of a very special man.
Many Thanks Joe
Dave

A fan of Fred I am, but of the heritage centre I am not!
It seems Mr Woolhouses post announcing Mr McEwen being there is actually false too.

Hi Rodger, My post was given with the best intentions. Alan Mcewen was a regular at the heritage centre, however things have now changed somewhat. At the time of my post, Alan had agreed to come and speak, but you are correct in saying that this is no longer the case.
We have had one or two responses to the 6th November event which suggested that to put on a special event on Fred's anniversary was disrespectful to the great man. As a result, the evening has now been moved to the following Friday (12th November) at the same time (5pm).
Anyone is welcome to join our Facebook page (the official Fred Dibnah Heritage Centre) to keep up with developments at the centre.
