New Bust for Bolton Museum

As we learned late last year, Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Archive will open later this year with a new bronze bust of Fred Dibnah by Bolton born artist Dr John Pilkington.

The making of a portrait bust cast in bronze would mean that Fred’s bust would undergo the industrial process of being poured in molten metal, something that Fred loved so much.

I have to say it looks much better than other busts of Fred that we have seen before. What do you think?

I agree with the above comment. this is definately the best likeness of Fred to date! It is very easy to tell who this bust is depicting where as I’m affraid all other attemps I have see shown on the internet, have been very poor. I did like a colour caricature print I saw for sale last year which again was very good but most depictions are a very poor likeness and just seem to be trying to cash-in on a much loved British institution with the view that anything claimed to depict Fred will sell.
