Hi Roger or Jack may remember me . Im from sussex in the south coast and a great admirer of the late fred. I made Fred about half a dozen model chimneys with him climbing up ,installing ladders, lighting the fire ect ect ect,and was wondering what happened to them. Fred loved them and told me they were the best he had seen, i even made a model of his land rover. If these items were no longer required i would love to have them back to present to our local steam museum. I was wondering if Roger or Jack had an email site i could contact them on. I have loads of photos of Fred ,the last being at a steam rally i believe in kent where we met up .He and Sheilawere pleased to see me ,this is when i presented him with the latest model i had made for him.Any help in tracing these models would be of great help. If they are still required your end then ok but i would just like to know they are still appreciated, many thanks Roger Lee
hi would anybody wishing to purchase tickets for the 22nd august evening at Freds place please email us at freddibnahtours@live.com we still have a few tickets left, the July evening was a fantastic evening, the atmosphere was electric, many thanks Leon
Glad to hear the first open night was such a tremendous success.
I was lucky enough to go to the first open night and had a great time, to see Freds place and meet some of his friends was unforgettable, the hosts did a brilliant job, such a relaxed atmosphere. I wish them good luck with their plans, it is what is needed.
hello there are you planning any other open days for the future
Hi Stephen, I’ve not heard any more news regarding any further open days, other than the Heritage Centre’s plans to be open and ready by 28th April 2010, which would have been Fred’s birthday. If I hear more I will post.
hi I have just watched a dvd called A MOVING STORY very good but how sad i could not believe freds house garden complete with his engines were left with nobody there so all the low life could raid the place why was it left empty ? I would have stayed there for nothing it was so sad some of the scum going back twice a day to raid the place anyway got that of my chest hope all is going well with the centre what is going on with freds engines all the best bill
I watched A Moving Story a while ago when this engine episode came to light, indeed very sad but at least they were kept in a safe place.
> what is going on with freds engines
Betsy finally got delivered to Fred’s sons on the Isle of Man, while his traction engine went to auction, details here.
Hi all, I went to a tour of Fred’s yard on thursday and it was fantastic. The tour guide was amazing and knew the in’s and out’s of Fred and his life and carreer. It almost felt as though FD himself was in front of us, telling us all about his antics in detail. Fred’s good friend Alan Mcewan was also there and gave a speech and the tour guide is there on the closed days when he is renovating a steam engine which belonged to FD and it looks amazing. Something tells me he will become an attraction in his own right before too long!
Hi Chris, It’s wonderful to hear you had such an enjoyable tour! Just to pick up on a couple of points you made, the horizontal steam engine is now back in position and is 95% completed, a copy of the DVD of it’s restoration is available by calling 07976 812 596. Also, we are very fortunate to have Alan Mcewen and his wife Christine on board. Alan’s friendship with Fred was a long and happy one and his many stories have proved extremely popular with our visitors. Alan and Christine also have their own books and merchandise for sale at the centre alongside our own Heritage Centre merchandise.
We look forward to seeing you again soon!
