Word has come in that the Heritage Centre in Fred’s former residence, due to open on 15th June, has released a catalogue after commissioning “a local artist to design a whole new range of beautiful items of memorabilia that will be sold exclusively through the heritage centre”. Fred’s spanner fetches £400 in internet sale

A SPANNER which once belonged to Fred Dibnah has been sold on the internet for £400.

Fred memorabilia fetches £777

A STEAM enthusiast has paid almost £800 for a collection of Fred Dibnah memorabilia.

Malcolm Bull, aged 55, from Coventry paid £777 for a number of items including some original sketches, a cap worn by Fred and a crushed petrol can which was flattened accidentally by the steeplejack when it fell off his steam roller. Read the rest of this entry »

Fred’s Cap comes to Hat Works

Stockport’s Hat Works museum has proudly unveiled its latest exhibit that features one of world famous steeplejack, engineer and steam engine enthusiast Fred Dibnah’s trademark caps!

The well-know figure of Fred Dibnah’s is one of Bolton’s best loved sons, who sadly passed away in November 2004. However, his family have kindly donated one of his most cherished caps to Hat Works on long term loan. Read the rest of this entry »
